Hi guys! Today I’m super excited to reveal the American cover for THE HUSH! This edition will be published by Sky Pony Press in 2017:
I’m absolutely in love with this cover! There are so many elements of the plot hidden in the image.
Recently, I also received these awesome Chinese editions of Chasing the Valley and Borderlands in the mail. They’re published by Phoenix Publishing:
I love these dramatic covers and it’s always wonderful to see the books in another language!
In other news, the first AGENT NOMAD book is off to the printers — hooray! I recently received an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) of the book and it was such a thrill to hold it in my hands for the first time:
The second book is about to be typeset, which is always an exciting stage in the process. Can’t wait to see the books in their final form!
Sorry I haven’t posted here in quite a few months, but I promise I’ve been keeping busy and working hard on my writing. In fact, I have quite a bit of news! In no particular order…
1. New Series
I’m thrilled to announce that I have a new fantasy series coming from Random House Australia in early 2017. Although I can’t reveal too much yet, I’m having a blast writing it! It features adventure, friendship, danger, international travel, spies and sorcery.
Right now, the estimated publication dates are February 2017 for Book One and May 2017 for Book Two.
2. Aurealis Shortlist (The Hush)
The Hush has been shortlisted for Best YA Novel in the Aurealis Awards! I’m incredibly honoured and grateful to be shortlisted alongside such fantastic books and authors.
If you’re looking for something new to read, check out some of the awesome books on the list! (I can personally recommend Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff or The Laws of Magic by Michael Pryor.)
Yesterday I was interviewed by the hilarious team from Studio 3 (ABC3). We chatted about my books and I completed a fun author challenge, which involved quite a lot of green slime being dumped on my head!
If you’re in Australia and you’d like to watch the fun, my interview (and sliming!) is due to air during Book Week later this month. Tune into ABC3 from 4:45 pm on Wednesday 26 August.
Thanks to the team at ABC3 for having me; I had a blast!
And now for a completely unrelated side note…
I’d also like to thank all the awesome readers who have sent me emails recently. I always try to reply, but occasionally after hitting ‘Send’ I receive an error message stating that your email address doesn’t exist. (Presumably due to typos when the address is entered into my website’s contact form.)
If you’ve emailed me and haven’t received a reply, I’m really sorry and just wanted to let you know the reason. Every email means a lot to me and I truly appreciate your kind words about the books. Thank you!
Hi everyone! I’m excited to announce that I’ll be appearing at some awesome writers’ festivals over the next few months. I feel very lucky to participate in these events and it would be lovely to meet some of my readers there.
1. Voices on the Coast (QLD)
In July, I’ll be presenting several writing workshops at Voices on the Coast Festival on the Sunshine Coast. This is a fantastic youth literature festival and I can’t wait to attend for the first time this year!
